Write / delete / exec toolscreate_dataset, create_smb_share, create_nfs_share, install/update/start app, dismiss/restore alert, run_scrub, create_scrub_schedule, download_update, refresh_directory_cache; destructive (need confirm=true): system_reboot, apply_update, delete_boot_environment, delete_app, stop_app, upgrade_app, configure/leave_directory_service, delete_scrub_schedule
Read-only modeYes: --read-only / TRUENAS_MCP_READ_ONLY hides and refuses every write tool; --allow-tools / --deny-tools lists; dry_run on all writes; destructive tools return a preview until called with confirm=true
Safety notesREADME tells you to use an admin API key, so run with --read-only unless you need changes. confirm=true is set by the model, so keep client-side approval on for destructive tools. Never use --insecure; trust the self-signed cert with --tls-ca. Debug logs redact credentials.
